It was the opportunity she’d been waiting for… but she felt stuck!

Becky has always been a go-getter. As a solo business owner, she prides herself on her ability to manage all aspects of her business with integrity and efficiency. She has spent years building her brand and cultivating a loyal customer base, and her hard work finally paid off earlier this year when she was offered the chance to partner with another successful business on a project that would be launched at an upcoming conference.

This was the opportunity she had been waiting for, the chance to take her business to the next level. However, as the excitement settled in, so did the realisation that she was already stretched to her limit.

Becky found herself facing a dilemma. She knew that taking on this new project would push her to her breaking point, but she also couldn't afford to let this opportunity pass her by.

Despite her reservations, Becky decided to take on the new project, feeling under-prepared, over-stretched, and terrified of letting people down. She had been burned in the past by unreliable help, so she felt even more pressure to do everything herself. The weight of the responsibility seemed almost unbearable.

One day, on a completely unrelated  Zoom call, she let it slip to me about the pressure she was under, and to our surprise, we each had different strengths when it came to business, so I offered to help her. What started as a simple conversation soon turned into a solid plan of action.

Together, we divided the workload, each focusing on our areas of expertise. I took on the task of getting the product ready to sell while Becky poured her energy into delivering her expertise. The partnership turned out to be the lifeline Becky desperately needed.

As the conference approached, Becky found herself amazed at what we had accomplished. The project was not only completed on time but to a level of quality that she never thought possible in such a short timeframe. This meant that she was able to truly enjoy the conference and the opportunity that she’d been given.

The success of our collaboration not only took Becky's business to a whole new level but also gave her a new perspective on finding people to help her in her business.

She realised that she didn’t have to spoon-feed gig workers who knew nothing about her business and whose only focus was getting the job done as fast as possible so they could move on to the next one in line.

She realised that she didn’t have to worry that jobs wouldn’t get done or that it simply wouldn’t work at the end.

She could focus all of her time and energy on delivering the best version of her expertise to the people who truly mattered… her customers.

And I know from our conversations since that they were totally blown away by everything she taught (which doesn’t surprise me in the slightest!)!

Becky's story serves as a reminder to all solo entrepreneurs that asking for help and trusting others is not a sign of weakness but rather a path to greater success and fulfillment.

From that one simple conversation, Becky’s business has bloomed and is now poised for amazing growth, and I can’t wait to see where it takes her next. I am proud to have played a part in her development, and I’ll be honoured to work alongside her on her next project… although preferably with less time pressure! 🤣
